Almaty, August 15, 2025 - The final of the youth ECO FEST TURAQTY JOL 6.0 was held at NarXoz University. More than 70 talented school and university students from various regions of Kazakhstan presented their ideas in the fields of ecology, art, media and innovation.
From an Educational Project to a National Platform
TURAQTY JOL began as an educational initiative aimed at fostering a respectful attitude toward the native land among the younger generation. Over six years, the project has grown into a large-scale youth platform that brings together cultural, moral and environmental values.
President of the World and Kazakhstan Federations of Clubs and Associations for UNESCO, Bolat Akchulakov, emphasized: "Over the past six years, the TURAQTY JOL project has engaged more than 20,000 participants across the country. The supported initiatives are already delivering tangible results. More than 1,000 applications for participation in ECO FEST 2025 prove that young people’s interest in sustainable development continues to grow."
The project is implemented with the support of the National Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for UNESCO and ICESCO, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Akimat of Almaty, the UNESCO Regional Office in Almaty, the Republican Educational and Methodological Center for Supplementary Education under the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and “Samal” Water. ESG and Business Partnership
Arnur Ibraev, Head of the Center for Sustainable Development (CSO) at Bank CenterCredit, noted the strategic importance of the initiative: "We are pleased to support the TURAQTY JOL eco-campaign and to see young people actively engaged in addressing environmental issues. Practice and New Competencies
Over four days, the finalists took part in lectures and workshops on ecology, ESG, media and public speaking. Each field received its own development focus:
• INNOVATION - participants visited the Samal Water plant and worked on financial models for eco-startups.
• ART - finalists attended a Pablo Picasso exhibition with Olga Baturina and joined a master class led by artist Aigerim Karibayeva.
• MEDIA - teams visited the editorial offices of Khabar TV, Kursiv Media and Almaty TV, where they met with media professionals.
Addressing the participants of ECO FEST, Erkin Zikibayev, General Manager for Corporate Affairs at Chevron, emphasized: "You are the ones who not only dream of a clean and green Kazakhstan, but take action. Thanks to your knowledge and enthusiasm, innovative projects, works of art and media content have been created content that inspires and teaches us to care for nature. Your ideas, energy and efforts are a true contribution to the future of our homeland".
